Impending Page Rank Update, Grab Some Free Links from Squidoo
By Matt Jones on Jul 19, 2007 in Blog Marketing
With the Google Page Rank update approaching the usual rush for links is happening. I normally find this quite amusing because bloggers who have never experience a Page Rank update run around like headless chickens (as I once did) getting far too exited and trying desperately to get some links. It’s almost like a right of passage for new bloggers where every 3 months, on a full moon they go crazy and start jabbering and drooling.
Having learned that having a visible Page Rank isn’t everything, (although it is still important) my solution to the jabbering masses problem is to
Make a Squidoo Lens.
I am not suggesting making a lens entirely consisting of links to your blog. After all, that Squidoo lens will be visible for everyone so why not use it to gain more readers rather than appear to be a spammer.
It took me about 15-25 minutes to create My Squiddo Lens using much of the info from my about page to do so. Notice there is no need to only link to the homepage of your blog. I linked to all my “top posts” and guest posts with Googleicious deep linking.
Bonuses
As well as the lenses ranking highly in Google, Squidoo’s revenue sharing program means your lenses have the added bonus of making you some spare change. Don’t expect big earnings from a single page, I have a mighty $0.69 in my Squidoo account but with multiple lenses a decent amount could be made.
Conclusion
If you were expecting a ‘comprehensive guide to Squidoo’ from me today then I’m afraid I will have to disappoint you. Setting up a lens really is so easy there is no need for a guide. However, you can look forward to more Squidoo tips from me in the near future.
