Top 5 Blogging Success Stories: Exclusive Quotes From John Chow, Yaro Starak And More
By admin on Sep 13, 2007 in Blog Marketing
2007 has seen the US officially recognise political blogging as a media platform and with any form of media there are the media darlings. The rise and rise of this new generation of blogging celebrities seems unstoppable and leaves the starving masses clamouring for entrepreneurial ideas. They shall be fed cake no longer, because I have personally secured exclusive quotes from some of the top money making bloggers of the age, who reveal their path to greatness.

John Chow Of johnchow.com
John Chow, the Canadian “Master” of The TechZone and TTZ Media Network made $17,828.61 in August from JohnChow.com during what for many of us is the ’summer slump’. He recently explained to me his key to success:
John Chow dot Com got so successful because I was singularly focused on making as much money as possible for the blog. By showing massive monthly increases in blog earnings, I fire up the imagination of bloggers everywhere. People came to read it not just to learn how to make money online but to see if I could beat last month’s record. The blog is based on the “success breeds success” model. The more money the blog makes, the more traffic it gets. The more traffic it gets, the more money it makes. It’s a good situation to be in.

Yaro Starak Of entrepreneurs-journey.com
Yaro Starak, the Australian entrepreneur makes a full time income from blogging for a few hours each day using his blog entitled Entrepreneur’s Journey. He recently launched Blogmastermind which is a mentoring program for bloggers. This is how he describes his journey:
I started writing my blog to market my small editing and proofreading business but realized I really did not enjoy writing about editing and proofreading. I switched paths, started writing about my real passion - entrepreneurship and Internet business - and the rest is history. Today I write to my Entrepreneurs-Journey.com blog a few times a week and generate a $5,000 a month income. I have also started a blogging school to teach others how to follow in my footsteps, called BlogMastermind.com.

John Cow Of johncow.com
JohnCow.com made a whopping $1334,55 in their 2nd month of emulating John Chow.
First there was Chow, then came the Cow. The initial buzz about the John Chow parody boosted us into viral heaven and we’ve milked it for what it’s worth. Being a parody blog, it’s easier to bring up controversial things since we like to add a healthy dose of humour to the content. We’ve noticed we can get away with stuff other blogs would be lynched over! It seems we’ve found just the right balance between being entertaining and informative for a lot of our readers. We chose to be a different kind of blog and it looks like we’re on to a winner!

CashQuests.com
CashQuests, AKA “greed personified” recently crossed the impressive benchmark of 800 daily RSS subscribers and has made $1000s. I’m sure the author’s (Kumiko) witty and highly entertaining writing style has had a major part to play. This is CashQuests’s story:
“Through psychological warfare, guerrilla tactics and a whole lot of espionage, CashQuests.com rose to the top of the ‘make money online’ genre at a speed that many called “faster than light itself”. Known for it’s fearless adventures into topics that other bloggers refuse to even mention, the site has based it’s success on openly revealing the secrets to making money that others keep close to their evil chests. Thousands of dollars have been made and will continue to be made in an Internet revolution of mammoth proportions.”

Andy Beard of andybeard.eu
Andy Beard shows us that it is very possible to run a popular blog without using hype. He utilises a thorough strategy very effectively and has gained a sizeable readership and reputation of expertise. This is how he presents the blogging strategy he used:
Define goals Define your target audience Define your niche Link to others Say something original and create compelling content Join the conversation Have a real opinion Balance criticism and praise
I have very specific goals, and a very specific target audience. Some people measure success by how many subscribers or how much money someone makes from their blog. I have never had a front page Digg, but my target audience doesn’t really use Digg.
I define success by who reads my blog within my target audience as my defined goal was to attract people within a specific niche, and even specific individuals.
These are just a handful of the people making money each day while at home in their pajamas. Millions of bloggers are following in their footsteps or already doing the same thing. In the world of high-speed broadband and social networks the need to get a traditional 9-5 job is fading. I myself have never had a job and make all my income online from blogs. I agree with Anthony, this are not top stories, although they are success stories I think the are under the category of “I want the same” :p
I like the fact that some bloggers are showing how much money they are making. I have thought about doing the same thing, but do not want to keep readers from coming back. Since my blog is about skiing at home, making money online is quite different.
