Jacob I think you have made a great move with the new theme. It looks much more modern and attractive. The only thing I would be careful about is that if you are only going to have 2 posts displayed on the Homepage make sure they are of a good length.

Being hastened by your constructive criticism I’ve installed a different, more visually appealing theme.
I think it will do for now.
I’ll try to modify it a bit so suit my needs but it looks pretty nice now.

I’m not saying you need to get a complete custom design; just a less commonly used free theme with a custom header could the trick. (that’s what Blogging Fingers users)

You can get cheap header graphics made here by starting a contest:

Or you could get in tough with Garry Conn http://garryconn.com who designed the Blogging Fingers header graphic.

If you really want a full redesign I only know of 2 designers and they cost over $700 each. They are:

Good review, i agree that the writing is good, with lots of useful information, but the design needs a bit more zing just to make key elements stand out

Thanks for the fair review, Matt.

About the design, well, that’s what happens when you do the design yourself (I guess it’s another lesson to learn).

I’ve just recently paid a designer for some redesign o f my income generating mind-energy.net site. I guess I need to find a good designer for this one as well.

Any recommendations on good wordpress designers and how much it may cost?

Also, Matt, I agree with your comments about the writing style. They indeed somewhat like personal musings and I know it’s a question of style and copywriting skills. I will need to improve these as well.

Yes. Has a lot of potential. But right now, there is no spice. I understand that the content is good. However, not many people will invest that much time to reading unless the site design looks appealing. I think this blog has great potential… but something needs to say, “Hey, Look At Me!!!” and right now it doesn’t.
