WebAppers: Only The Best Free Resources For Web Developers

webappers.pngWebAppers prides itself on providing “only the best free resources for Web Developers”. This results in most posts being on a slightly more technical subject than those on Blogging Fingers, but every now a familiar topic appears, namely BlogRush. I was a bit worried about how WebAppers praised BlogRush without any questioning because from what I have read and my own statistics the click through rate is terrible.

WebAppers is relentlessly updated everyday (often twice) and as a result there is an abundance of information. As a fairly un-technical blogger I have wanted to gain a better understanding of open-source technologies to help me in future projects. It is short and useful posts like this one about Styling File Inputs with CSS and DOM that persuaded me to join the 2200+ subscribers. The fact that there are 2200+ subscribers only 4 months is very impressive and shows the usefulness of WebAppers, which is demonstrated again this post of Top 10 Free File Hosting for Web Developers

WebAppers does provide advertising but overall the site is not heavily monetized. I am certain they could get away with more ads while still growing traffic and subscriber numbers. If I were the owner I would sell out almost the entire right-hand area above the fold to advertisers, then have the “categories” heading visible at the bottom just above the fold, with the categories themselves listed below.

In terms of resources WebAppers is packed. The wide spread of categories can be a little daunting but I believe they are necessary in order to cater for the variety of posts.

One of the reasons I’m sure the RSS count has grown big so fast are the very descriptive titles, which tell readers what they can skip. They are not flowery linkbait. They match the style of the posts perfectly. They are concise, descriptive and contain all the information needed for the reader to know if they should read the post or skip it.

Conclusion

Many bloggers including myself have greater aspirations than simply running a successful blog. Gaining a better understanding of the web applications and skills that are on WebAppers are essential for this. Attaining just a basic understanding allows you to tell when you are being overcharged when outsourcing something and that is the very least I intend to learn.

If you haven’t done so already, head on over to WebAppers and subscribe to the feed.

Matt, thank you for the excellent and thorough review. I think user experience is more important than gaining more profit. That’s why i did not heavily monetize WebAppers. If they are comfortable to view your blog at the same time the content is useful, your readers will increase dramatically.

Thanks again for the great review. I really like BloggingFingers as well. Keep up the great work!

You are welcome Ray. Fair enough about the monetization, it’s ultimately about what your goals are. Thanks for the encouragement :)
