Remember yesterday I linked to Dees post about coComment?, which is a service that allows you to track comments you have made on blogs.
Since then I have made a startling discovery. Some of Blogging Finger’s commentators, namely Jennifer from The Life Of A School Bus Driver have been using CoComment to track their comments, some of which were on Blogging Figners. What this has resulted in is my Technorati ranking increasing as I get more and more links appearing from coComment. It happens because the sites the comments are made on are put on the coComment users profile page, giving free links to every site they comment on!
These links are not just worthless profile links; the user profile pages all have a Google PageRank of 4 so they have a real value! However, after a while they slip of the user profile page into archives, but the they are still links nonetheless.
Note: The Link from coComment goes to the individual post page the comment was made on, not the blogshomepage so most of the value is in Technorati Ranking because Technorati includes links to all pages.
You can make the most of this in the following ways:
White Hat Methods
Black Hat Method
You could simply create multiple coComment accounts and then go around commenting on your own blog, getting a link back for every spam comment you publish there.
This could become a problem for Technoratiwho should stop including links from coComment in their rankings because they are so easily gamed.
You could try and make me feel guilty for writing a Black hat method, but I’m half proud of myself for thinking of the White hat methods before the Black hat ones.
P.S. Don’t forget to track the comments you make on this post with coComment.
