Pillar Posts Compiled Into An E-book/PDF
By admin on Oct 7, 2007 in Blogging Ideas
Compiling a selection of posts from the Best Of Blogging Fingers into an e-Book has been something I have been pondering recently.
What I Could Do With The e-Book
- 1. Give it away for free, not even asking for an email address. This would get the most attention from other bloggers and it would get the most downloads this way.
- 2. Ask for an email address and have it sent there. This would get slightly fewer downloads but it would be a great way to grow my email list.
- 3. Offer it as treat for RSS subscribers to encourage the numbers to grow.
What Would You Do?
Every blogger can do this, many already have.
Which method would you use to get the most out of your e-Book?

Personally, I would request a subscription to RSS - its a fairly easy thing to do for the reader and at the same time, a fairly weighted parameter by you, the blogger.
I’ll keep that in mind
RSS subscriber numbers are very important…
I’ve found your blog by reading your response to DoshDosh’s group survey.

If I created my own e-Book, I’d only give it away for free if my blog had a very limited audience (i.e. less than 100 uniques/day). That would be a nice way to drive attention and posibly more traffic to my blog.
If my blog got over 100 uniques/day I’d rather start a newsletter and offer the e-Book for free to all subscribers. Of course the idea also applies to feed subscribers, although I guess the type of reader who sign up for newsletters isn’t necessarily the same who’d go for RSS feeds.
Hmm… do you know what? This post just made me realise that I could actually compile the content of one of my blogs into an e-Book. I had never thought about it before. Thank you for (involuntarily) giving me a good idea!
I think i’ll just pretend I gave it to you deliberately, that way you ow me
Haha! All right, now I’m debt with you.
I think the 1st one is going to work best .
Ask for email is my suggestion.
I would probably give it to subscribers, but any of the three are valid options in my opinion.
It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Any and all the reasons you listed are valid. So, which is important to you? What is the goal you are trying to achieve by making use of the e-book?
That is a VERY good question Garry!
Give it away for free and use it to build a subscriber list. Fill with affiliate links if possible and promote other products that you have.
