Saturday Linking: Increasing Weekend Traffic
By Matt Jones on Aug 25, 2007 in Blogging Links

DoshDosh wrote a great article outlining ways to get more traffic over the weekend. While the weekend can be a great opportunity to go outside and enjoy the world, it’s always disappointing to see slumped traffic stats.
1 of the ways DoshDosh suggests to maintain traffic is by using social networks. BlogLight.ning is a growing social network I created just for bloggers and is a great place to meet bloggers over the weekend as well as promote your blog.
DoshDosh also mentions writing a ‘Friday Linkbait’, or a major article that has the potential to attract lots of inbound links by taking advantage of the lack of submissions to social voting sites like digg and reddit during the weekend.
Analysis
I noticed both TechCruch and Read/WriteWeb wrote major articles on Friday, however, I was surprised to see the TechCrunch Article only received 2 diggs and wasn’t even on Reddit at all. My prediction is that the average title of Finding DRM-Free Music Online let them down.
Read/WriteWeb’s fantastic and in-depth article entitled Filmmaker’s Tool Kit: Creating a Movie with Web 2.0 got big as I predicted and received 251 diggs.
Next week I will be making the most of this powerful strategy.
